Eva Rice on ‘The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets’ and ‘This Could Be Everything’
In my latest interview, I’m in conversation with the bestselling author, Eva Rice.

Eva Rice is the author of several novels, including The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets, which I chose as a Comfort Book Club pick earlier this year, and which I know so many of our readers loved as much as I do. Eva’s latest book, This Could Be Everything, has recently been released in paperback, and Eva shares a reading from the book during our chat.
Both The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets and This Could Be Everything are brilliant coming of age novels about music-obsessed young women getting to grips with loss, love and life. The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets is set in the 1950s and tells the story of Penelope Wallace, who lives in a huge, famous - but crumbling - ancient house in England and who dreams of her favourite music star from America. This Could Be Everything takes place in the early 1990s, and its heroine, February Kingdom, obsessively listens to music as she grieves over the loss of her twin sister, Diana. One day, February finds a canary singing in the kitchen, and so begins a remarkable, life-altering summer that brings fresh hope into February’s life.
I had so much fun chatting with Eva about writing coming-of-age novels, what books influenced her to become a writer, the importance of music and comfort reading and so much more.
I hope you enjoy listening to our chat!
